Great piece earlier this month from Jodi Glickman in the Harvard Business Review on how we give up power when we choose NOT to address each other by first name. I immediately thought of teachers and other adults and how they speak to each other in schools. I think she has a point.
In one of the districts I work with, the superintendent has set a “first-name only” policy among her staff. Weird that it has to be such a policy, but right on for recognizing and addressing a problem.
